NORTH PETHERTON

POPPY-DAY RECORD

Poppy Day realised the record sum of £106, compared with £92 10s 6d last year. Mrs. McCREATH (organiser) thanks all who assisted in raising this fine total.

A SPLENDID RESULT

The recent dance for the Peace Celebration Fund raised £18 1s 6d. The “estimated net result” competition was won by Mrs. G. PORTER and Mrs. WADDON. The prizes were given by Mrs. G. WILLIAMS and Mr. F. ARGALL.

A FRIEND OF CHILDREN

The funeral took place at the Cemetery of Miss Emily SENDELL (54), of Cliff-road, who died after an illness of three weeks. The vicar, the Rev. J. ADDY, officiated.

Miss SENDELL was held in high esteem in the village, being especially a friend of the children.

The chief mourners were Mr. C. SENDELL, Mrs. C. R. DUNN, Mr. T. SENDELL, brothers and sister; Mrs. UNDERWOOD, L.A.C. J. DUNN, Miss F. DUNN, and Mr. B. DUNN, nephews and nieces; Mr. C. R. DUNN, brother-in-law; Mrs. J. DUNN, Master K. UNDERWOOD, Mr. R. SENDELL, Mr. W. SENDELL, Miss MELHUISH, and Mrs. BOND. There were many beautiful floral tributes.

LATE MR. W. HAMBLIN

The funeral took place at the Cemetery on Saturday of Mr. William HAMBLIN, of “Kingsley,” Taunton-road, whose death occurred on the previous Tuesday, after a long illness. Mr. HAMBLIN was 73 years of age, and was well known in the district, having carried on the business of trailer builder and general dealer. The Vicar (the Rev. J. ADDY) officiated. The family mourners were:- Mrs. HAMBLIN (wife); Messrs. W. HAMBLIN, C. A. HAMBLIN, C. W. HAMBLIN, and H. HAMBLIN (sons); Mrs. F. RANDALL, Mrs. F. HERBERT, Mrs. J. VOYLE, Mrs. L. BUCKLAND, Mrs. F. EDNEY, and Miss I. M. HAMBLIN (daughters); Messrs. F. RANDALL, F. HERBERT, J. VOYLE, and F. EDNEY (sons-in-law). Others present included Mr. and Mrs. A. YOUNG, Mr. A. WHITELEGG, Mr. F. GRANDFIELD, and Mr. H. GRANDFIELD. There were many beautiful floral tributes.

POPULAR BRIDAL COUPLE.

The wedding took place at the Congregational Church of Miss Margaret WARREN, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John WARREN, of Fore-street, and Mr. Frank RICHARDS, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. F. C. RICHARDS, of Baymead Cottage. The Rev. S. J. ROBINS officiated. Mr. A. J. BRADBEER was the organist and the hymns were “The Voice that breathed o'er Eden” and “How welcome was the call.”

Given away by her brother, Mr. Sidney WARREN, the bride wore a tailored costume of olive green with hat to match. She carried a bouquet of chrysanthemums. Q.M.-Sergt. E. H. RICHARDS (brother of the bridegroom) was the best man.

Following a reception at the home of the bride's parents Mr. and Mrs. RICHARDS left for Clifton, where the honeymoon is being spent. The cake was made and presented by Mr. C. HUBBARD, of Nether Stowey. Mr. and Mrs. RICHARDS received many useful gifts.
