LATE MRS. MARIA FISHER

The Rev. S. J. ROBINS conducted the funeral at the Cemetery on Saturday of Mrs. Maria FISHER, aged 84, who died on the previous Wednesday. Her husband died nine years ago.

The family mourners were: Mr. W. FISHER (son), Mrs. S. HODGE (daughter), Mr. and Mrs. W. PIKE, Mr. W. BOARD, Mrs. DURHAM and Mrs. W. FISHER (sons-in-law and daughters), Mr. and Mrs. A. G. MILLER (grandchildren). There were many beautiful floral tributes.

£5,000 MEMORIAL FUND

A meeting of the North Petherton War Memorial Committee was held on Monday, Mr. E. J. ROGERS presiding. The following officials were elected: Mr. E. J. ROGERS, chairman; Mr. T. CLATWORTHY, vice-chairman; Mrs. F. GUNNINGHAM, hon. secretary; Mr. C. W. STONE, hon. treasurer.

The Chairman (Mr. E. J. ROGERS) expressed the opinion that at present they should not decide what form the memorial should take. He felt that those now serving should have a voice in the matter.

Mr. W. CARTER thought some definite object should be decided upon, and Mr. W. PERRY agreed.

Mr. CHIVERS stated he had received several letters from men serving abroad suggesting various plans for a memorial. He thought the Committee should formulate some definite plan.

Mr. G. CARTER's proposition that the Committee should raise £5,000, but not decide what form the memorial should take until the views of those serving could be obtained, was carried.

A Committee was appointed to arrange social events in aid of the Fund.
