ILMINSTER

FUNERAL OF MRS. J. A. MARSHALSEA

The funeral took place at Dowlish Wake Churchyard on Wednesday last week of Mrs. Julia Anna MARSHALSEA, aged 84, who died at the home of her son, Mr. A. J. MARSHALSEA, 16, Townsend, Ilminster. The Rev. C. J. PRING (rector) officiated. The family mourners were: Mr. and Mrs. A. J. MARSHALSEA (son and daughter-in-law), Mr. C. MARSHALSEA, Montacute (son) Mr. and Mrs. T. ROCKETT, Moolham, Mr. and Mrs. P. DARKE, Whitelackington, Mr. and Mrs. H. LEGG, Dowlish Wake (sons-in-law and daughters), Mr. George LOWMAN, Montacute (brother), Mr. J. MARSHALSEA, Mr. H. ROCKETT, Mrs. D. SYMES, and Mrs. J. FOWLES (grandchildren), Mrs. E. MARSHALSEA and Miss V. SHEARS (friends). Others present were Mr. M. GUMMER (Ilminster), Miss R. BROUGHTON (Yeabridge) Mrs. SINGLETON (Kingstone), Mrs. PERRY and Mrs. C. ACKLAND.

WEDDING OF MR. G. G. CORNELIUS AND MISS M. E. F. BISHOP

The wedding took place at the Parish Church on Saturday of Miss Marjorie Edith Florence BISHOP, Kenny, Ashill, and Mr. Geoffrey George CORNELIUS, only son of Mr. and Mrs. O. CORNELIUS, Love-lane, Shepton Beauchamp. The choral service was conducted by the Vicar (Preb. G. G. HICKMAN), and Mr. G. H. FOWLER SHARPE was the organist.

The bride, given away by her uncle, Mr. S. BACK, was attired in a white satin gown, with embroidered veil lent by a friend, and headdress of orange blossom. She wore a string of pearls, loaned by Mrs. WILSON, and carried crimson and pink carnations with trailing fern. She was attended by Mrs. Monica COLE (matron of honour) and Miss Valerie COLE (bridesmaid), sister and niece of the bridegroom. The matron of honour wore a powder blue frock and headdress of blue flowers and silver leaves, and carried yellow roses and and fern. The bridesmaid wore a rose pink dress and headdress of pink flowers and silver leaves, and carried anemones and fern. Mr. Stanley COLE (brother-in-law of the bridegroom) was best man.

A reception was held at Dellers Cafe, Taunton, about 40 guests being present. Later the couple left for a honeymoon tour of Devon and Cornwall, the bride travelling in a love-in-the-mist blue dress with navy accessories. They received many presents, including a cheque to the bride from the customers of the Crown Hotel, where she was employed.
