NORTH PETHERTON

RUGBY CLUB DANCE

On Boxing night the Rugby Football Club arranged a dance at the George Hotel. There was a crowded attendance. Music was played by Alf REED and his Dance Orchestra.

CAROL SINGERS

For two or three evenings before Christmas the choir of the Women's Institute visited various parts of the village singing carols, and collected £17, which was forwarded to Dr. Barnardo's Homes and the Church of England Children's Home.

NEW YEAR'S EVE DANCE

A dance, arranged by the newly-formed War Memorial Committee, was held at the George Hotel Assembly Room on New Year's-eve. There were about 150 present and dancing was enjoyed to the music of Melville ALLEN and his Sedgmoor Orchestra. At the passing of the Old Year, “Auld Lang Syne” was sung, Mr. S. SELLICK was M.C.

DEATH OF MR. ALBERT BINDING

The death has occurred of Mr. Albert Sidney BINDING, of 8, Butts Corner, after a long illness, at the age of 26. The funeral service at the Congregational Church was conducted by the Rev. H. DOLPHIN.

The mourners were Mrs. A. BINDING (mother), Mr. Stanley BINDING (brother), Miss Winnie BINDING (sister), Mr. and Mrs. W. SNOOK, Mr. and Mrs. G. WILLIS, Mr. and Mrs. A. IRISH, Mr. H. KITCH, Mr. and Mrs. A. KITCH, and Mr. John PARSONS. Mr. Victor BINDING (serving overseas) was unable to be present.
