THE LATE MRS. A. M. BURGE
The funeral took place on Thursday week of Mrs. Alice Mary BURGE, widow of Mr. Thomas BURGE, of Stoneleigh Cottage, Heale-lane, Curry Rivel, who died aged 84. A native of Southampton, she had lived in the village nearly all her life. Her husband died 25 years ago.
Prior to interment in the Parish Churchyard, a service was held in the Parish Church, conducted by the Rev. R. W. PHILIPSON (vicar of Drayton). Family mourners were:- Messrs. A. BURGE, V. BURGE, S. BURGE, H. BURGE, and B. HOOPER (sons), and Mesdames A. RANDALL, J. KERSLEY, T. GOODSON, R. DYER, and Miss A. BURGE (daughters), Mr. G. DYER (son-in-law), Mrs. A. BURGE, Mrs. V. BURGE (daughters-in-law), Mr. F. GOODSON (son-in-law), Miss L. BURGE, Miss E. GOODSON, and Mr. V. GOODSON (grandchildren), Mrs. D. MERRITT (niece).
Others present included Lady DAWKINS, Mrs. KEY, and Mrs. W. ROGERS (representing the Mothers' Union, of which Mrs. BURGE was a member), Miss KINGSTON (also representing Mrs. DARLINGTON, Stonleigh House), and Mr. and Mrs. SMART.
Floral tributes included tokens from the Mothers' Union. Bearers were Messrs. F. CHORLEY, H. SALWAY, R. SIMMONDS, and M. COUSINS.
