Trull Dedication

Bronze Plate on the War Memorial

There was a large congregation at Trull Parish Church, on Sunday morning for the dedication of the bronze plate which has been added to the village war memorial to commemorate the men of the parish who lost their lives in the war 1939-45. The plate bears five names:- A.B. Hugh ESCOTT, R.N., Pte. Robert George FOURACRE, A.A.C., A.C.1 Reginald James LENTHALL, R.A.F.V.R., Lieut. David Roger Oakeley MOTT, R.N., and Sergt. Thorold Esmond RAE, R.A.F.V.R.

Morning prayer was conducted by the Vicar (the Rev C. W. TREVELYAN, M.C.), after which the dedication ceremony was performed by the Bishop of Derry and Raphoe (Dr. R. McNeil BOYD, M.C.), who also gave the address. The Bishop, who is a personal friend of a member of the congregation, was chaplain to the 27th Division during the war 1914-18. He was invited to visit the parish as the Bishop of Bath and Wells (Dr. H. W. BRADFIELD) was not available owing to a heavy list of engagements extending to the end of the year.

Collections at both morning and evening services were devoted to the War Memorial Fund.
