Concert Was “Family Affair”
Feature of Kingsbury Golden Wedding Celebration
Well-Known West Country Couple
Mr. and Mrs. John JEANES, of Kingsbury Episcopi, who, with their family, are well-known in the West country for their musical activities and work for charities, celebrated their golden wedding last week, with a gathering in the Methodist Schoolroom, at which a concert was given entirely by the family. Their three children, five grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces were present in the schoolroom, which was formerly the church in which Mr. and Mrs. JEANES were married. An item in the concert programme was by Mrs. JEANES. She sang “Darby and Joan.” The couple were the recipients of many gifts from relatives and friends, also numerous greetings. A three-tier golden wedding cake was cut at the family gathering.

Public presentations to the couple included an inscribed Methodist Hymn Book with tunes, from the Women's Bible Class, of which Mrs. JEANES is President. On Sunday evening Mr. Rufus MALE, on behalf of past and present members of the Methodist Choir, presented to Mr. and Mrs. JEANES and electric clock. The couple had been connected with the church and choir for over 50 years.
After the evening service Mrs. JEANES received a snake-skin hand-bag from the members of the Kingsbury Women's Institute Choir, of which she is conductor.
Rev. Leslie GROVES, who presided at the concert, wished Mr. and Mrs. JEANES many years of happiness together.
