Taunton Funeral of Mrs. S. B. HAYES

Mrs. Gladys HAYES (65), of 150, East Reach, Taunton, who has carried on a business in basketry, and wool and art needlework for many years, died at her home on Sunday.

She was the eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. BRUFORD, who kept the business for many years.

Mrs. HAYES had a serious operation about a year ago, but was able to return to business with her daughter. Her condition again became serious about a fortnight before her death.

There was a large attendance at the funeral service on Thursday at St. Mary's Church. It was conducted by the Vicar the Rev. H. L. BOTHAMLEY, and Mr. Herbert KNOTT was the organist. Interment was in a floral-lined grave at Taunton Deane Cemetery.

The mourners were:- Mr. S. B. HAYES (husband), Miss Marion HAYES (daughter), Mrs. B. J. HEFFORD (sister), Mr. and Mrs. LcLENNAN (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mr. Gordon McLENNAN (nephew), Mr. P. V. ROBINSON (brother-in-law), Mrs. A. PLUMRIDGE (niece), Mr. C. H. MACDONALD and Mrs. E. KERSLAKE (friends).

Among the general attendance were:- Mr. A. W. PARKER (also representing Mrs. PARKER), Mrs. SIMPSON, Mrs. KELLY, Mrs. BROCK, Mrs. KING, Mr. and Mrs. BAILEY, Mrs. F. POOK, Mr. and Mrs. V. GALE, Mrs. COOK, Mrs. C. TOLLER, Mrs. TURNER, Miss PYM, Miss V. PYM, Mr. and Mrs. C. G. STACEY, Mrs. M. RIDGE, Mrs. S. NETHERWAY (representing the TOBIAS family), Mr. A. WHITE also representing Messrs. White Bros.), Mr. L. TOLMAN, Mr. and Mrs. MULFORD cousins), Mr. and Mrs. CANNICOTT, Mr. PERRY (also representing Mrs. PERRY and Maurice HUCKER, Ltd.), Mrs. C. H. BRUNT, Miss BARRETT, Miss A. BOTHAMLEY (representing St. Mary's Vicarage) and Miss A. M. BAKER (representing Miss D. SHEPHERD).

The funeral arrangements were entrusted to Mr. Leonard E. SMITH, of Haydon-road, Taunton.
