Centenarian Dies

Mrs. Eva HARTREE, Bridgwater's centenarian, died at the Aspen Grove Nursing Home, Northfields, on Friday. She celebrated her 101st birthday on June 1st.

Until a few weeks ago Mrs. HARTREE got up every day and washed and dressed herself.

Born at Tiverton, she lived at Nether Stowey for over 70 years, and was the wife of Mr. Thomas HARTREE, who died over 20 years ago. He had farmed at Durborough Farm, Stogursey-lane, until his retirement. They had one daughter, Miss. Winifred WARNER, who died over 50 years ago, at the age of 24.

When she celebrated her centenary, Mrs. HARTREE was living at Westfield, Nether Stowey. To mark the occasion, she was presented with a framed copy of her birth certificate by the Clerk, Mr. E. PALMER, on behalf of the Parish Council.

The funeral took place at Stogursey on Tuesday.
