Chorister For 70 Years

North Petherton Death of Mr. WATERJOHNS

Mr. Arthur Willie WATERJOHNS, head of Messrs. A. W. Waterjohns & Son, builders and undertakers, Queen Street, North Petherton, died at his home, Fernleigh, on Wednesday, at the age of 80. He had sung in the church choir for over 70 years; had been a ringer for 30 years; and was secretary of the Parochial Church Council for nearly 20 years.

He was vicar's warden at the time of his death and was formerly people's warden, and had held practically every office in the church, which was his main interest.

In his younger days he played cricket for North Petherton and was a former captain of the village club. He had also served on the committee of North Petherton Horticultural Society.

His wife died 40 years ago and he leaves one son and two daughters.

The funeral service will be at noon at North Petherton Parish Church on Monday, to be followed by cremation at Arno's Vale.
