NOT TO BE DISTURBED!
This
thrush, by building her nest in the main wheel, has put a crane out
of action at the South Western Electricity Board depot in St. James's
Street, Taunton. The staff have a notice up. 'Please don't use,'
which means that the crane will not be worked until the young
thrushes are fledged in a few days' time. The nest is 15 feet from
the ground, and this picture had to be taken from a ladder.
Assisting the parent thrushes in the feeding of the brood this week
has been a blackbird – an unusual example of fathered altruism.
