Long Family Link With West Monkton
The new Colonel of the Somerset and Cornwall Light Infantry, Major-General R. K. GOLDSMITH, is the grandson of the Rev. F. C. KINGLAKE, who was rector of West Monkton from 1881 to 1900. He is also a descendant of Dr. William KINGLAKE, of Court Place, West Monkton, who died in 1660 and is buried in the church. The KINGLAKE family, distinguished in commerce, literature, the Army and the law, had much to do with the development of the Vivary Park area at Taunton.
