Aged 96
Breaks Leg
Mr. Samuel BERRY, aged 96, a former mayor of Bridgwater, of Haygrove Hill, Durleigh Road, broke a leg in a fall at home on Thursday and is in Taunton Hospital.
Mr. BERRY, who was four times mayor, is the only surviving Freeman of the borough, an honour conferred upon him in 1938. In the previous year he received the M.B.E. for his long record of public work.
Mr. Frank BERRY, his son, told the Somerset County Herald yesterday that his father was 'as well as could be expected.'
