South African War veteran
A veteran of the South African War who took part in the relief of Ladysmith, Mr. John BRISTER died last Friday at Summerlands Hospital Yeovil, where he had been for the past 12 years. Born at Barrington more than 85 years ago, Mr. BRISTER also served with the Somerset Light Infantry in the 1914-18 War and was wounded when in France. After his demobilization he worked for many years as a carter for both Mr. R. P. WHEADON and General LOCK of Wakehill. His wife died in 1946 and he leaves a son and daughter.
