Death of Mr. Leonard SMITH
Mr. Leonard Edwin SMITH, of 1, Haydon Road, Taunton, well known throughout the Taunton area as an undertaker, died at Musgrove Park Hospital, on Friday of last week, after a brief illness. He was 69.
Born at Shoreditch, Taunton, Mr. SMITH was educated at Huish's Grammar School before entering his father's coachbuilding firm. In 1930 the firm began arranging funerals, and Mr. SMITH had done so ever since. He had been in business in the town for 50 years.
He was well known throughout the district. He was a most kind-hearted man and consistently went out of his way to help people. He was a founder-member of Vivary Lodge of the Loyal Order of Moose (211).
The funeral service at Holy Trinity Church, Taunton, on Thursday, followed by private cremation at Taunton, was arranged by his staff.
Mourners.
There was a large attendance.

TROTT (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. H. J. HEWLETT (brother-in-law and sister), Mrs. R. NORTHCOTT and Mrs. F. CROKER (sisters), Mr. W. J. EDDY (brother-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. J. CROKER, Mr. and Mrs. G. BAKER, Mr. and Mrs. D. SLOCOMBE (nephews and nieces), Dr. Pamela HAMILTON (friend), Mrs. R. BISHOP, Mrs. B. BOWDEN, Mr. A. G. GREADY, Miss E. GREADY (representing Miss D. GREADY and Mr. A. GREADY), Mr. B. VENNER (cousins) and Mrs. E. GREADY (cousin, representing Mr. R. BLAKE, Mrs. L. WESTERN, Mrs. B. CLARKE and Mrs. WITHERS, cousins).
At Mr. SMITH's request friends were invited to give donations to the Chest and Heart Association.
