GROCER SAID HE WAS NOT LOOKING

A Taunton grocer, who collided with a Post Office van near the Dolphin Inn, Holway, was fined £5 by the Borough Magistrates on Tuesday. Henry Charles CRIDLAND, of 39, East Reach, pleaded guilty to driving without due car and attention.

Inspector K. RUSSELL said Mr. Cecil J. HUSSEY was driving a Post Office van from East Reach to Holway Road, when he saw defendant coming out of the junction with Shakespeare Avenue. Instead of stopping CRIDLAND kept going and there was a collision. When Mr. HUSSEY asked the defendant about the collision he said, 'I am sorry; I was not looking in your direction.'
