LONG SUTTON.
WHOLESALE WIFE BEATING. - No less than four cases of wife beating took place in the small village of Knowle, in this parish, on the 13th ult. A wedding of a very novel character took place on that day, it appears “the better halves” being anxious to witness the interesting ceremony, betook themselves to the sacred edifice, and from thence joined the procession to the home of the bride, leaving the “gude men” to provide dinners for themselves and families in the best manner they could, which exasperated the masters, and hence the result.
