NORTH PETHERTON.
MR. HARDWICK'S HOUNDS. - Mr. HARDWICK's harriers met at the Park on Thursday, and had a good day's sport.
BOARD SCHOOLS. - The Board Schools will open afternoons at two instead of 1.45 on Monday and until further notice, as the days are drawing out.
EVENING CONTINUATION SCHOOLS. - These schools closed on Thursday evening last for the session. They have been well attended, and very popular with the scholars.
POST-OFFICE APPOINTMENT. - We are very pleased to know that Mr. Clifford BURROWS, son of our respected Postmaster, has been appointed a clerk in the Post-office at Wigan, in Lancashire. We wish him every success in his future career.
SERGEANT BLACKER. - We are very glad to know that our esteemed Sergeant of Police, Sergeant BLACKER, is recovering from his illness. He has been to Bristol for a change, which has much benefited him. We trust he will soon be completely restored to health.
LOCAL SUCCESSES. - The following North Petherton students received their prizes and certificates from the Art and Technical School Committee (Bridgwater) on Tuesday last. The prizes were distributed by Mr. STANLEY, M.P., at the Bridgwater Town Hall. Dressmaking Class. - 1st prize, 10s, S. J. ROGERS, for a blouse; 2nd, 5s, K. M. D. PYPER, for blouse and special prize, 3s 6d, for a shirt; special prize, 3s 6d, Emily CRANE, for children's dressmaking. Drawing. - Prize, 2s 6d, and 1st class freehand, R. J. C. FERGUSON; 1st class freehand and model drawings and prizes, 5s, and 2nd shading, A. ADDISON; freehand certificate, M. J. CLATWORTHY; model drawing, K. M. D. PYPER; 1st advance shading and prize, 2s 6d, N. J. REYNOLDS; freehand, E. BURNETT; 1st class freehand and prize, 2s 6d, W. HALLETT.
