ATTEMPTED SUICIDE AT FRENCH WEIR. - On Monday morning a married woman, the wife of Mr. Robert LITTLEJOHNS, of Canal-raod, made a determined attempt to commit suicide by jumping into the River Tone at French Weir. Fortunately, however, two men named John SULLY and Albert ROSEWARN happened to be working near at the time, and the former, without hesitation, jumped into the water and brought her safely to the bank. Mrs. LITTLEJOHNS, who is 36 years of ago <sic>, and has a family of eight children, has been under the doctor's care for the past nine months, and her husband had been recommended to have her removed to an asylum. Quite naturally he preferred to keep her at home if possible, and she has been under the care of his mother. On Monday, however, she eluded the mother's care, and as already stated threw herself into the river. She has since been removed to Cotford Asylum.
