TAUNTON BOROUGH POLICE.
WEDNESDAY. - Before the Mayor (Alderman J. A. SPILLER), in the chair, the ex-Mayor (Alderman J. P. SIBLEY), General EMERSON, Mr. W. POOLE, Mr. C. J. GOODLAND, and Mr. W. H. WESTLAKE.
THE STONE-THROWING NUISANCE.
Alfred OATEN, a lad, of Holway, appeared before the Court on a summons for breaking a pane of glass at the shop of Edward LAWRENCE, green-grocer, of East Reach. - The evidence of a little boy named Fred MUNDY, residing at Eastbourne-road, showed that on the 28th October he saw the defendant throw a stone at a girl, but instead of the stone hitting her it went through a pane of glass in prosecutor's shop window, thereby doing damage to the extent of 8s. - The mother of the defendant appeared in Court, and said that her boy was continually being irritated by children, and on this occasion he threw the stone in retaliation. - Asked by the Bench if she was willing to pay for the damage done, the window not being insured, the mother declined, saying she could not afford to. - The Bench dismissed the summons.
THE EDUCATION QUESTION.
Walter BOARD, of Mount-lane, and Samuel WYATT, of Alfred-street, were each fined 2s 6d and 2s 6d as costs, for disobedience to an order proviously made for neglecting to send a child in each case to school, and an order was made against WYATT in respect of another child, for it to attend regularly in future. - An order was also made for the attendance of the child of George DODDEN, of 13 Court, High-street.
