5TH SOMERSETS' ANNUAL CAMP.

OVER 800 TO TRAIN AT SALISBURY.

On Saturday last the main body of the 5th Somerset Light Infantry proceeded to camp, which this year is being held at Bulford, Salisbury Plain, and detachments of men left the various centres by two special trains, that from Taunton departing at noon. The Taunton Company, which was 123 strong, was accompanied by Captain and Adjutant T. A. WALSH, Captain E. B. KITE, Captain GOODLAND, Lieutenants G. F. ARNOLD and F. H. F. CALWAY(?), Second-Lieutenant G. N. RAWLINGS, Sergeant-Major MORGAN, and Colour-Sergeant T. H. HOOD (Orderly-room clerk).

The full strength of the regiment is 902, and it is gratifying to record that as many as 817 assembled for the annual training. This is the highest number reached since the formation of the Territorial Force. Most of the men are putting in the whole fortnight at camp, thanks mainly to the generosity of employers in granting them the necessary time off.

The advance party from Taunton left on Tuesday, and consisted of Lieutenant TIMMS, Lieutenant and Quartermaster BOND, Sergeants DARLING, VICKERY, and SLOCOMBE, and 17 of other ranks.

The Band of the 5th Somerset, under Bandmaster FIELD, accompanied the men.
