KINGSBURY EPISCOPI.
Private H. REED has been home from the Cambrai front for the Christmas holidays.
Bombardier A. TILLEY is now on his way back for a short leave. Private F. J. MALE, of the London Scottish, is also home from the Front on 14 days' leave. Private J. CLARK has been for some weeks in a military hospital at Sheffield suffering from a wound in the hand.
THE LATE LIEUTENANT J. H. C. WILLY. - Mrs. J. H. C. WILLY, widow of the late Lieutenant J. Howard C. WILLEY, of Kingsbury Episcopi, who was killed in action on November 26th, has received the following letter from the Captain of his Company:- “I feel I must write and tell you how inexpressibly sorry we all are at the loss the Regiment has sustained by the loss of your husband . . . As Company Commander, I know only too well what a very excellent soldier your husband was. Fearless and courageous, he never swerved from his duty, and as a Platoon Officer his one thought was the care and comfort of his men. He was badly hit in the abdomen, but we got him back as soon as possible to the doctor, but he died there. It may be some satisfaction for you to know that he was buried with the respect due to a brave man, and your loss may be nullified by the knowledge that he died doing his duty.”
