TRULL.

DEATH AND FUNERAL OF MRS. OATEN. - It is with regret that we record the death of Mrs. OATEN, wife of Mr. William OATEN, which occurred at 4, Glencoe-terrace, where she had lived for several years. Deceased had been in failing health for some time, and an attack of bronchitis, followed by pneumonia, eventually caused her death. She was of a bright and generous disposition, and was always ready to assist and give valuable help in sickness, which many parishioners will long remember, and much sympathy has been extended to the widowed husband, three sons and one daughter in their great loss. The funeral took place at Trull on Saturday last, and was attended by a large number of mourners. The service conducted by the Vicar, the Rev. K. W. P. TEALE, was partly choral, and the deceaseds favourite hymns, which were impressively sung, were: - In the church, “On the Resurrection Morning,” and at the grave, “Abide with me.” The coffin was of polished elm, with brass fittings, and bore the inscriptions: “Jemima OATEN, died March 4th, 1919, aged 59 years.” The principal mourners were: - Mr. W. OATEN (husband), Mrs. W. WIGGINGTON (daughter), Mr. W. OATEN and Private F. OATEN, Middlesex regiment (sons), Mr. W. and J. RICHARDS (brothers), Mrs. BUTTLE, Mrs. TAYLOR, and Mrs. GRAY (sisters), Mrs. W. OATEN and Mrs. F. OATEN (daughters-in-law), Mrs. KNIGHT, Mrs POLE, and Mrs. RICHARDS (sisters-in-law), Miss E. RICHARDS and Mrs. CAUSLEY (nieces), and Mr. ELLIS (friend). The youngest son, Gunner G. OATEN, R.H.A., who is on war service in Egypt, was unable to attend. The following were also present:- Mrs. C. T. ELTON, Mrs. F. DAY, Miss CURRY, Mr. and Mrs. WHALE, Miss DENNETT, Mr. and Mrs. WEAVER, Mrs. A. PYKE, Mrs. R. J. DOBLE, Mrs. W. J. BISHOP, Miss GREEN, Mrs. CHILCOTT, Mrs. W. SILKE, Mrs. GILL, Mrs. FLOWER, Mr. G. T. LEWIS, Mr. W. M. TURNER, Misses TURNER, Mr. BURGE, Mr. HUTCHINGS, Mr. SPARKES, Mr. G. WEAVER, and many others. There was a large number of beautiful floral tributes from members of the family and friends. The funeral arrangements were entrusted to Mr. R. J. DOBLE, of Trull.
