NORTH PETHERTON

FLAX GROWING. - Large quantities of flax have been grown this year, and the yield has been fairly good.

VISITORS. - Many visitors from London, Manchester, and elsewhere have been staying in North Petherton during the past few weeks, and have greatly benefited by the change.

POLICE CHANGE. - P.C. TRAVERS, of North Petherton, has been transferred to Keynsham, near Bristol. He has proved himself a capable and efficient officer at North Petherton and was also very popular.

THE PEA SEASON. - The pea-picking season is now practically at an end, and in spite of the drought in the spring and early summer, has been a good one. It has given employment to hundreds of hands during the picking.

WEDDING. - A pretty wedding was solemnised at the Congregational Church on Tuesday, the Rev. David LLOYD officiating. The contracting parties were Miss Clara SELLICK, daughter of the late Mr. John SELLICK, and Mr. Clifford AISH, both of North Petherton. The bride was given away by Mr. Fred SELLICK (brother), and the bridesmaid was Miss Annie SELLICK (sister). There was a large number of relatives and friends present at the interesting ceremony.

THE RECENT CYCLE ACCIDENTS. - We are pleased to state that Mr. BREWER, of Taunton, who met with a serious bicycle accident, and Mrs. HUGHES, of Peckham, London, who was thrown out of a motor cycle side-car by the handle-bar snapping, are now practically convalescent. These two accidents occurred within three or four days of each other at Heathfield, North Petherton, and both patients were detained at the Bridgwater Hospital.
