DEATH OF MRS. E. SMITH

FUNERAL AT RUISHTON.

MANY TRIBUTES OF SYMPATHY.

Sincere regret has been felt by a wide circle of friends at the sad news of the death of Mrs. Adelia Mary SMITH, wife of Mr. Edwin SMITH, of Haydon-road, the well-known coachbuilder and proprietor of the “Rambler” chars-a-banc. Mrs. SMITH, who was only 52 years old, passed away on Saturday night, after a painful illness lasting several weeks. She was of a kindly and happy disposition, and much loved by her family and her friends. She leaves one son and four daughters, for whom and for her sorrowing husband much sympathy is felt.

The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon at Ruishton, in which parish Mr. SMITH's family formerly lived, and with which he and the late Mrs. SMITH had preserved ties of friendship and generous interest. Many relatives and friends attended the funeral, and a noteworthy family tribute was paid by eight nephews acting as bearers. The cortege left Haydon-road amid signs of respect and sympathy, and similar marks of mourning at Ruishton, where many local residents awaited the sad procession, while blinds were drawn en route. The body, enclosed in an unpolished oak coffin, was conveyed on a motor hearse, covered with beautiful flowers, the tributes of sorrowing relatives and friends. The coffin bore a large Latin cross, with name plate at foot, engraved as follows: “Adelia Mary Smith, died 28th November, 1925, aged 52 years.”
