CHEDDON FITZPAINE.
DEATH OF MR. F. J. MERSON.
It is with regret that we record the death of Mr. Frank J. MERSON, which occurred at his residence, Cheddon Cote, Cheddon Fitzpaine. The deceased gentleman, who was one of the best-known agriculturists in West Somerset, formerly resided at Farringdon, North Petherton, but having retired from business he moved to Cheddon Fitzpaine. He was a member of the Devon Cattle Breeders' Society, and one of the most successful breeders and exhibitors of cattle and sheep. The funeral, which took place at North Petherton on Friday, was largely attended by agriculturists in the district and others, in spite of severe wintry weather and a continued heavy fall of snow. The first part of the funeral service was held in the parish church, of which deceased was a churchwarden for many years, and it was conducted by the Vicar (the Rev. J. ADDY) and Archdeacon INGLIS (Cheddon Fitzpaine). The service was choral. Among the large attendance were:- The Rev. P. T. PRYCE-MITCHELL, Messrs. R. BRUFORD, S. KIDNER, J. C. BADCOCK, W. R. J. GREENSLADE, Leslie PRICE, T. BOND CHAPMAN, R. SMITH, T. MILTON, W. H. BURSTON, J. TURNER, G. CARNE WILLIAMS, Gordon SKINNER, E. P. PETERS, and many others.
