NORTH CURRY.

DEATH OF MISS GILLANEY. - Much regret was expressed in the district when it became known that Miss Harriett GILLANEY, step-daughter of Mr. George HECTOR, of North Curry, had passed away at Lyng (where she had stayed for some months past with her sister, Mrs. William WEMBRIDGE) after a painful illness of many months, borne by her with great fortitude. Deceased was born in the Manchester district and came to North Curry many years ago, residing at Broad-lane. Although never of a strong constitution, she was well known for her bright and cheery disposition, and took an active part in the work at the Wesleyan Church and Sunday School. Latterly she removed to Taunton, where she stayed for four or five years, and became connected with the Albermarle Baptist Church, where she made many friends in the school and Young People's Christian Endeavour Society. Failing health compelled her to give up her work and return to Lyng. The interment took place on Tuesday at the Wesleyan Church, North Curry, amidst many tokens of esteem in which she was held, the service being conducted by the Rev. S. HOARE, the resident minister, and the Rev. F. E. BOORMAN, pastor of the Albermarle Church, Taunton. The hymns sung were the favourite ones of the deceased, “Jesu, Lover of my soul” and “God moves in a mysterious way.” The chief mourners were Mr. and Mrs. William WEMBRIDGE (brother-in-law and sister), Mr. Fred CLARKE (fiancé), Mrs. STRICKLAND (sister), Mr. V. HECTOR and Mrs. LOTT (brother and sister), Violet LOTT and John WEMBRIDGE (niece and nephew), Mrs. V. HECTOR (sister-in-law), and Mr. C. YARD (cousin), and Mr. George HECTOR. The coffin was of polished elm, with brass fittings, and there were many beautiful floral tributes from relatives and friends. The bearers were Messrs. Charles DARE, W. BREWER and G. and R. BOOBYER.
