TRULL.

DEATH OND <sic> FUNERAL OF MR. W. OATEN. - Many will have heard with regret of the death of Mr. William OATEN, which occurred on Saturday, at the residence of his son, Mr. F. OATEN, The Cottage Amberd, at the age of 75 years. Deceased, who had been in failing health for some time, formerly resided for many years at Glencoe-terrace, and was very highly respected. He was a member of the Trull Church choir for over 30 years. He leaves three sons to mourn their loss, one being in New Zealand. - The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon in the Trull Churchyard – the coffin being brought to the church on Wednesday evening – and was attended by many parishioners and friends. The service was conducted by the Vicar, Rev. M. L. WINTERTON, and was fully choral. The hymns sung were, “Jesu, Lover of my Soul.” and “Let Saints on Earth in Concert Sing.” Mr. S. WILSON presided at the organ. The family mourners were Mr. and Mrs. W. OATEN (son and daughter-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. F. OATEN (son and daughter-in-law), Mr. G. POLE (brother-in-law), Mr. C. KNIGHT (nephew), Mrs. A. COOMBES, Miss WIGGINGTON, and Mr. M. OATEN (grandchildren). The coffin, which was of polished elm, bore the inscription:- “William OATEN, died April 11th, 1931, aged 75 years.” There was a large number of beautiful floral tributes. - The funeral arrangements were entrusted to Mr. R. J. DOBLE, of Trull.
