RED CROSS EXAMINATION. - At a recent examination held at the Territorial Hall, Taunton, all members of the Somerset/23rd V.A.D Men's Detachment, four probationers, and two A.A. Scouts, who trained with the detachment, obtained more than the necessary marks according to their year in first aid. The results were as follows:- 9th year, Senior Section-Leader Clark; 8th year, Quartermaster W. L. G. HILL, 7th year, Section-Leader G. D. LAVEROCK; 6th year, Section-Leader T. SELLITT and Section-Leader W. YARD; 5th year, A. J. HUXTABLE; 4th year, C. PRING, F. N. E. BOND, and T. PARRATT; 3rd year, D. T. HAWKINS, S. E. OATEN, H. E. MATRAVERS, S. O. PERKINS, and W. H. STUTT; 2nd year, R. H. SUMMERS (pharmacist), N. S. ALLEN (radiographer), M. V. L. COLLARD, and H. L. RICHARDSON; 1st year, H. MANSFIELD, A. MURTON, A. E. ATYEO, E. BEESLEY, F. CAVE, S. J. STODGELL, and J. HAMILTON. A.A. Scouts – 5th year, G. BARTON; 3rd year, L. WYCH. This is the first occasion on which the written questions were set by the Central Board of Examiners, which sit at London. Considering that 20 members obtained more than 80 per cent., two members 97 per cent., and one member 100 per cent., the results are highly satisfactory. The examiner's remarks were merely:- “High totals speak for themselves.”
