BROADWAY & HORTON.

FOOTBALL CLUB EFFORT. - As a result of the recent whist drive at the Victory Hall in aid of the Horton Football Club £3 12s was raised.

BROADWAY SCHOOL'S NEW HEAD. - Miss Mildred HACKER, of the School House, Horton has been appointed headmistress of Broadway School in succession to Mrs. GIBSON, who left at Christmas. Miss HACKER has for the past two years been assistant teacher at the Central Schools, Taunton.

DEATH OF MR. A. PORTER. - A week after coming to Broadway to recuperate, following an attack of influenza, Mr. Arthur PORTER, of Cheddar, died at Taunton Hospital on Sunday week. Mr. PORTER, who was about 62 years of age, worked for many years at the Donyatt Potteries, where he painted ware. He left the village about six years ago, but returned for holidays nearly every year, staying with Mrs. DAVIS. When he came to Broadway on the Sunday prior to his death he appeared quite well until Friday evening. He was taken to the hospital on Saturday. The funeral took place on Friday afternoon.
