SHEPTON BEAUCHAMP.

DIED IN EYE HOSPITAL. - The death occurred at the Weymouth and Dorset County Royal Eye Infirmary on Friday of Mr. George POND, a patient, aged 62, whose home address was Pound Cottage, Shepton Beauchamp. Mr. POND was admitted to the Infirmary on February 28th and underwent an operation on March 2nd, and had been making favourable progress until an illness overcame him. The South Dorset Coroner was informed of the death but there was no inquest.

DEATH OF MISS E. ROWSWELL.

The death occurred on Thursday at the residence of her uncle, Mr. Fred VAUX, of Ditcheat, of Miss Edith ROWSWELL at the age of 32.

Deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. ROWSWELL, late of Shepton Beauchamp, and the adopted daughter of Mrs. E. ASH, of Seavington. She had been an invalid for some years. Miss ROWSWELL went to resided with her uncle, Mr. Fred VAUX, of Ditcheat, about two months ago, and passed away on March 1st.

The funeral took place on Monday. The coffin of unpolished oak, with silver fittings, was covered with flowers, and bore the inscription:- “Edith ROWSWELL, died March 1st, 1933, aged 32 years.” The service was held in the Wesleyan Chapel, Ditcheat, the service being conducted by the Rev. Windsor BEVAN. Deceased was laid to rest at the Castle Cary Cemetery, the last rites being performed by the Rev. Windsor BEVAN.

The mourners were:- Messrs. John, Harold, Arthur, Herbert and Fred VAUX (uncles), Mrs. J. VAUX, Mrs. H. VAUX, Mrs. Fred VAUX, Mrs. ASH, and Mrs. ROWSWELL (aunts), Mrs. J. ROWSWELL (Shepton Beauchamp), Mrs. ASH (Cardiff), and Miss Sarah VAUX (great-aunt, Seavington).

There was a large number of lovely flowers, including a floral tribute from the Girls' Friendly Society, Seavington, of which deceased had been a member for some years.
