The General inspected the detachment, which was lined up in sections, each unders <sic> its section leader, and also saw the detachment at section and stretcher drill. He complimented the Commandant, other officers and the whole detachment, on what he termed “a splendid turnout.” He remarked that he was, prior to the appointment of Lieut.-Colonel H. I. R. ALLFREY, D.S.O., M.C., County Controller, and had in that capacity seen the detachment many times, but never before had he seen such a large number, or so well truned <sic> out. He complimented all concerned on the discipline and drill and said the men ought to be grateful for this opportunity of learning what discipline meant. They also ought to feel a good deal of satisfaction in the knowledge that they were learning to do, and were doing, so much good for others.
