STOKE ST. GREGORY

EVACUEES' FELLOWSHIP. - The weekly Fellowship meeting was held on Thursday afternoon. After a short Devotional service, led by Mrs. P. A. REDMAN, games were organised by Mrs. H. HEMBROW and Mrs. P. COATE. Songs were sung by Mrs. M. WHITTLE, and recitations were given by Mrs. OXLEY and Mrs. HEMBROW. Refreshments were served by Mrs. F. BREWER and Mrs. F. HEMBROW. A very pleasant time was spent.

LATE MRS. MILLER. - The funeral of Mrs. Harriet Ann MILLER, of Swansea, South Wales, who died at Woodhill on February 9th, at 67 years of age, took place on Thursday last. The Rev. J. C. REDMAN conducted a service at the house and officiated at the graveside in the churchyard. Mrs. MILLER was originally of Stoke, and left the village about 30 years ago. She often returned for holidays, and was known and respected by many friends.

WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

At the monthly meeting on Tuesday, in the absence of the President, through illness, Mrs. H. GARLAND presided. Members were asked to grow more vegetables this season. Dr. MELHUISH, of Parkstone, gave a lecture on “How we catch diseases.” Mrs. SHIRE and Mrs. CLARKE thanked the lecturer. In a “Button-holes” competition (judge, Mrs. Frank CHEDZOY), the marks awarded were:- Mrs. H. COATE, 5; Mrs. SHARP, 4; Mrs. H. GARLAND, 3.

Mrs. A. PIPE kindly offered to give seed potatoes at the April meeting for the autumn competition.

Hostesses for refreshments were Mrs CLARKE and Mrs. F. COATE. During the social half-hour Mrs. MONEY sang, and a general knowledge test was given. Mrs. W. PEARCE was the pianist.
