NORTH PETHERTON.

FIGHT WITH FARM FIRE. - A serious outbreak of fire, and one which might easily have assumed serious proportions, occurred on Thursday during threshing operations at Pratt's Farm, North Petherton, occupied by Mr. Harry DAY. One rick of corn had been threshed, and work had been commenced on another rick when flames were suddenly seen to shoot up from the corner of the stack. The flames could not be subdued, and a message was dispatched to the Taunton Fire Brigade, which was on the scene within 35 minutes. At this time destruction was threatened to other ricks, as well as to the barton and homestead. The brigade, however, gradually subdued the flames, and the actual damage amounted to only about £200, which loss is covered by insurance.
