MARRIAGE OF THE CONGREGATIONAL MINISTER.

An interesting ceremony took place at the Congregational Chapel, Langport, on Wednesday afternoon, when the Rev. S. JONES, of the Manse, Langport, was married to Mrs. C. B. ATYEO, ironmonger, of the Market Place, Langport, The chapel was filled with interested spectators, the Rev. S. JONES, since he undertook the pastorate at Langport, having gained the respect and esteem of his congregation, and of many outside the church, and Mrs. ATYEO, having for some years taken an active interest in the organisations of the church, especially in Sunday-school work and as superintendent of the Band of Hope, whereby she gained the esteem of many. The bridegroom was attended by his brother-in-law, Mr. G. WESTON, of Pontypool, Monmouth, who acted as his best man. The bride, who was attired in a dress of pale heliotrope silk, with bonnet to match, was accompanied to the chapel by her mother (Mrs. NORMAN) and the bridegroom's sister (Mrs. G. WATSON). She was also attended by Miss Ada DENMEAD, of Yeovil, cousin of the bride; Miss M. PERRAM, cousin of the bride; and Miss A. JONES, niece of the bridegroom. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. T. HYDE, of Chard, an old fellow student of the bridegroom, who gave a very interesting and appropriate address. Marriage hymns from the Congregational hymnal were sung, that before the ceremony being “How welcombe was the call” (1,247), and after the Benediction, “O Love Divine and golden” (1,248). Miss KNIGHT presided at the organ and played the “The Wedding March.” Dr. J. P. JOHNSTONE, deputy registrar, attended with the public register, which was signed in the schoolroom. On the happy pair leaving the chapel flowers were strewn in their path by girls of the choir, and they were liberally pelted with rice by a crowd of people in the path. Subsequently, Mr. and Mrs. JONES left for Bridgwater, en route to Weston-super-Mare, whence they will proceed to North Wales for the honeymoon. A large number of valuable presents were on view at the Manse.
