MILVERTON.

SHEEP SHEARING MATCH. - A sheep-shearing match took place on Wednesday week in a large marquee erected in a field opposite the White Hart Hotel, Milverton. There were twenty-nine competitors in all, and the work was accomplished in so skilful a manner as to call for the utmost nicety of professional discernment from the judges. - The prizes were awarded as follows: - Class 1. - To the farmer or farmer's son who should best shear three sheep within a given time, a silver cup, value three guineas. - awarded to Mr. Francis TARR, of Chipstable. Class 2. - (For professionals): 1st prize, a silver cup, value £2 10s., Daniel GREENSLADE, Chipstable; 2nd prize, a silver cup, value £2; 3rd, a silver cup, value 30s., Edward HOOPER, Chipstable. Class 3. - (For youths), a silver cup, value 30s., awarded to Henry BICKNELL, of Pitminster.
