SUDDEN DEATH OF A TAUNTON POSTAL OFFICIAL.

A feeling of regret was caused in Taunton on Friday by the sudden death of Mr. John PARKHOUSE, chief clerk of the Post Office, who was found lying dead on the floor of his room at the office by Mr. JAMES, the postmaster, who had occasion to confer with him. The deceased had not long returned from his home to the office, and had made no complaint of feeling ill. A medical man was at once summoned, and life was pronounced to be quite extinct. The deceased had for some time suffered from heart disease, and death was due to this and the rupture of a blood-vessel. He was a member of an old Taunton family, and was 52 years old. He leaves a widow and son. He had spent 32 years in the postal service, and had been chief clerk at Taunton for twelve years. He was of quiet, courteous, and genial temperament, and was held in high respect and esteem.
