MISSING CHILD.
Extensive Search at Watchet Unsuccessful.
In spite of great diligence on the part of the police and voluntary searchers, no trace has been found of the two-years-old boy, William BINDING, who so mysteriously disappeared from his home a week ago last Friday. It is believed that the boy fell into a stream and was washed out to sea, and a close watch has daily been kept along the immediate coast from Porlock to the River Parrett.
All ports in the Channel have been given a description of the boy to the following effect:-
Age, 2 years 2 months; height, about 2ft. 6in.; eyes grey; fair; hair cut short; dressed in check overall, cream-coloured jersey with short sleeves, dark grey knickers, white shirt, lace-up brown boots, and cap.
While scouring the coast from Minehead to Hurlstone Point a searcher had a perilous experience.
A westerly gale forced up the tide and prevented his getting round the point, and as he was unable to return he had to scale the cliffs, a hazardous task from which he emerged safely, though the climb left him greatly exhausted.
