Apprentice Indenture - John MALE 13 Jun 1779

This Indenture, made the Thirtieth Day of June in the Nineteenth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and fo forth; and in the Year of our Lord One thoufand feven hundred and Seventy nine. Witneffeth That John Taylor and William Drayton Church-Wardens of the Parifh of Barrington in the County of Somerset - And William Mead and Henry Drayton Overfeers of the Poor of the faid Parifh, by and with the confent of his Majefty's Juftices of the Peace for the faid County whofe Names are herunto fubfcibed, have put and placed, and by thefe Prefents do put and place John Male aged seven years a poor Child of the faid Parifh, Apprentice to the said William Drayton in respect of his estate in the said Parish with him to dwell and ferve from the Day of the Date of thefe Prefents, until the faid Apprentice fhall accomplifh his full Age of Twenty one years according to the Statute in that Cafe made and provided. During all which Term the faid Apprentice his faid Master faithfully fhall ferve in all lawful Bufinefs, according to his Power, Wit, and Ability; and honeftly, orderly, and obediently, in all things demean and behave himfelf towards his faid Master and all his during the faid Term. And the faid William Drayton for himself, his Executors and Adminiftrators doth Covenant and Grant to and with the faid Church-Wardens and Overfeers, and every of them, their and every of their Executors and Adminiftrators, and their and every of their Succeffors, for the Time being, by thefe Prefents, That the faid William Drayton the faid Apprentice in Husbandry shall and will teach and Instruct or cause to be taught and instructed. And fhall and will during all the Term aforefaid, find, provide, and allow, unto the faid Apprentice, meet, competent, and fufficient Meat, Drink, and Apparel, Lodging, Wafhing, and all other Things, neceffary and fit for an Apprentice. And alfo fhall and will fo provide for the faid Apprentice, that he be not any way a Charge to the faid Parifh, or Parifhioners of the fame; but of and from all Charge fhall and will fave the faid Parifh and Parifhioners harmlefs and indemnified during the faid Term. In witnefs whereof, the Parties abovefaid to thefe prefent Indentures inter-changeably have put their Hands and Seals, the Day and Year above-written.
