Donna's Sommerfeld's Chart
Regarding the Frederick Genealogy by Donna Sommerfield presented to the "Belleville Recorder" Jerry Remy makes the following comment about Donna:
"A number of years ago, Belleville Librarian Rosemary Ziehli picked up a large brown envelope postmarked Alberta, Canada. The sender was Donna Sommerfield, a descendant of village founder John Frederick. Included with the package were copies of his will, a family tree and the following letter written by John and Johanna Frederick on February 14, 1850. 
  
Also included was an article recently written by Tracy Arnold (GGranddaughter of John Frederick). She mentions: "Wellington Frederick, spent 10 years in California and Nevada, where he built 16 mills and also built the dance hall on a single stump of a redwood tree. In all his adventures he was successful and prosperous. He had an interest in a quartz claim, however, which he traded for town lots in SanFrancisco. But the title being defective, he lost $10,000 in investments, in addition to the time and money spent in litigation with a view to his rights. On his return trip in 1859, he married Miss Sarah J. Gilbert of Belleville, Canada, a daughter of Caleb and Sara Ross Gilbert, and a granddaughter of Samuel Gilbert, one of the founders of the town. After marrying they located at Belleville Wisconsin, where he took charge of his father's flouring mill, saw mill, and woolen mill, remaining until April, 1864. He eventually made his way to Montana, settling in Willow Creek (Gallatin County) where he died on September 18, 1879."
