Robert married Jane Rolf in 1675 the descendents of this marrage were known as Red Bollings because of their Indian blood Mary is desended from this line. He married 2nd Ann Stith The Children from this marrage were called White Bollings.
about 1734 Benjamin Bolling Mary's Great Grandfather began to use Bowling instead of Bolling for unknown reasons. May have been because it wasn't good to be known as a Red Bolling in those days.
