    John Scroggins, 70, of 1503 E. 19th St., died Thursday evening at his home.

    His survivors are his wife Mrs. Catherine Dye Scroggins; three daughters, Mrs. Flossie Corlay, Miss Patricia Scroggins and Miss Martha Scroggins all of Chattanooga; three sons, Jerry, Tommy and Johnny Scroggins, all of Chattanooga; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

    Funeral plans will be announced by J. Avery Bryans. Body will at the residence after 5 o’clock this afternoon.

    INJURY FATAL FOR SCOGGINS

    Car Fell On Him Sunday Afternoon



    An East Lake man who was injured Sunday when a car fell on him while he was checking it for a friend, died Monday afternoon at Erlanger Hospital of injuries received in the accident.

    Jerry Perry Scoggins, 23, of 1703 E. 50th St., died shortly after 3:30 p.m. According to police, he was injured Sunday afternoon when a coil spring failed and the suspension of the auto he was checking collapsed and dropped the car on top of him, crushing him. He was pinned under the car for several minutes.

    After being freed from the auto, Scoggins was taken to Erlanger Hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.

    Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Catherine Scoggins; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Neal, Mrs. Patricia Sutherland and Mrs. Leola Corley; two brothers, Tommy and Johnnie Scoggins, all of Rossville.

    Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the English Avenue Baptist Church. The body is at J. Avery Bryan Funeral Home in Chattanooga.
