Jay, 86, died Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Jay was born September 30, 1920 in Phoenix, Arizona; the son of Jess Knox Scroggin and Annie (Patterson) Scroggin.
On March 14, 1945 he was married to Grace Brown in Morrilton, Arkansas. He came to Artesia in 1952 from Carlsbad.
He was the manager of Prices Creamery when he moved here then became a car salesman for 44 years until retiring at the age of 80. Jay also was a member of Hermosa Drive Church of Christ, Kiwanis Club, and the Legion of Leaders for 23 years.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents; brother Mike Scroggin; sister Mary France; and niece Annie Manganaro.
Survivors include his wife Grace Scroggin of the family home; sons Jim Scroggin and wife Kim of Artesia, and Tommy Scroggin and wife Donna of Artesia; grandchildren Scott Scroggin of Artesia, Lara Conklin and husband Derek of Lubbock, Texas, Tyler Scroggin and wife Shasta of Artesia, and Staci Scroggin of Artesia.
