    James Isaac Scroggins, the son of James Edward and Ann Elizabeth Harrel Scroggins, was born in Barbour County, Alabama, in 1859. He married Florence Maggie Craig (born ac 1868, died before 1915), the daughter of William and Mary E. Craig. They operated a farm near Solomon's Mill. The surviving children of James I. Scroggins and Florence Maggie Craig Scroggins were: [1] Joseph "Joe" Scroggins, [2] Eva Mary Scroggins Grubbs, [3] Dothan Scroggins, [4] Carrie Scroggins Morrison, [5] Della Scroggins White, [6] Alto Scroggins, [7] Alpha L. "Monk" Scroggins, [8] Ollie Bell Scroggins White, [9] James "Jim" Scroggins, [10] Hettie Scroggins, and [11] Willis Hovey Scroggins.
    James I. Scroggins patented 159.89 acres of land through the Montgomery land office on 23 Jan 1901 for the NW of Section 17, Township 11 north, Range 25 east.

    [6] Alto Scroggins born 5 Oct 1892 - On World War I Draft Card listed as married with a wife and one child, Farmer employed by father James Scroggins. Alto Scroggins married Sylvania Akinson -Issue: Foy Scroggins, Bob Scroggins, Grace Scroggins, Dewey Scroggins, F.M. Scroggins, Ray Scroggins, Glenn Scroggins, and Hazel Scroggins. (Glenn Scroggins died young with leukemia). Death records - Lloyd Scroggins, 1917-04 Nov 1917, 2 months 16 days, son of Mr. & Mrs. Alto Scroggins.

Death records - son Alvin Scroggins (03 Aug 1920 - 18 Aug 1920, buried at W.C. Sanders Cemetery).

    [11] Willis Hovey Scroggins (2 Jan 1903-17 July 1986, burial at Dykes Church) married Clyde Cordell Danner (22 Oct 1905-21 Nov 1943) on 7 June 1928. They had two children: Billy Clyde Scroggins (14 Oct 1939-19Feb 2007, burial at Dykes Church) and Ruby Scroggins Moore who married Odrie Clarence Moore Jr. After Clyde died, Will married Lula Gladys ______ (3 Sep 1921).
    James I. and Maggie Scroggins had at least three infant children to die before 1900, and she had a total of 14 children born by 1910, but only 11 were living. After Mrs. Maggie Scroggins died, burial at Mt. Zion Church, Mr. Jim married Martha , "Miss Mary" Williams, daughter of Hezekiah Williams, on 30 May 1915. They lived in a big bungalow house just south of Dykes Church. James I. Scroggins died on 12 Nov 1938. He was buried near his home on the land he had donated to Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church (name later changed to Dykes Church) for a cemetery. Miss Mary Scroggins passed away 14 March 1969 and was buried beside her husband. The McLaney?s and Other South Alabama Kin?.
