    Biography

    John Tyle Scroggins, Jr, 51, a lifelong resident of Cleveland passed away Friday, February 20, 2009 in a local hospital. He attended Bancroft Church of God, was employed by Carter Heating and Air and a veteran of the United States Army.

    He was preceded in death by three brothers Gilbert Payne, Jimmy Payne, Hoyle Payne and one sister Deanna Schultz.

    Mr. Scoggins is survived by both his parents John Tyle and Bobbie Payne Priest Scroggins; one daughter, Elizabeth Christina Scroggins Lansing of Chattanooga and two grandchildren, Austin and Brently Lansing of Chattanooga. He is also survived by seven sisters and spouses: Sonya and Robert Pruiett of Richmond, VA, Pamela Payne and Steven Voyles of Cleveland, Teresa and Faron Goodwin of Crandall, GA, Ernestine and David Clem of Chatsworth, GA, Darlene and Danny McGill of Chatswoth, GA, Dorothy Casson of Atlanta, GA and Wilma and Bobby Black of Atlanta, GA; three brothers: Donnie Payne of Cleveland, Albert Lee Jackson of Chatsworth, GA and Johnny Joe Payne and spouse Betty Rodgers of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2009 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Norman Stallings officiating. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Earls Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

    His family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2009 prior to the service.
