    Albert Clint Scroggins

    Albert Clint Scroggins, 63, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, in Maury Regional Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Maury Co., and lived in the Southport Community.

    Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Williams Columbia Funeral Home with the Rev. James Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

    The family will receive friends from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

    He was the son of the late Mitchell and Georgia Scroggins. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother, Maude Mae Scroggins, Mary Ruth Newcomer, Lara Mae McAdams and Enos Scroggins.

    He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 43 years, Mary Johnson Scroggins of Southport; three sons, Jerry Wayne (Jackie) Scroggins of Southport, Jeffrey Clint (Robin) Scroggins of Columbia and Johnny (Janice) Scroggins of Southport; two brothers, Troy (Bobbie) Scroggins of Ringling, Okla., and Jerry (Joyce) Scroggins of Columbia; four sisters, Mrs. Doris (Butch) Martin of Culleoka, Mrs. Betty (Arnold) Pruitt of Columbia, Mrs. Becky (Howard) Hight of Columbia and Lorena Stark of Kentucky; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

    He was a Marine Corps Veteran serving from 1956 - 1959 in Korea and Lebanon where he was awarded the Purple Heart and Combat medal. He left the Marine corps as Undefeated Divisional Middleweight Boxing champion with a record of 36-0.

    He was a self-employed painter in Columbia for 30 years. He had worked at Maury Regional Hospital for the past five years with J & S Painting.

    A special thanks of gratitude to Dr. John Maloff, Dr. Lucy Dirr and all the employees and subcontractors of Maury Regional Hospital. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

    Pallbearers will be Punkin Johnson, Bobby Ray Johnson, Doug Davidson, David Pruitt, Sam Scroggins and Burr Scroggins. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the Plant Operations Department at Maury Regional Hospital.
