  He was born Feb. 10, 1923, in Shawneetown to the late Robert J. and Edith
  (Scroggins) Mitchell. He was married to Dorothy Porter for 51 years. She survives.
  
  Visitation is 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at Grove Memorial
  Chapel of Elk Grove Village. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at the First Baptist Church of Arlington Heights, 1211 W. Campbell. Burial is at Lakewood Memorial Park of Elgin.
  
  Mr. Mitchell was a WWII Army veteran and a retired carpenter. He was also
  a member of Carpenter's Union Local No. 839. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Kyle L. (Richelle) Mitchell; a son J. Kendall (Marcy) Mitchell; a daughter Sandra L. (Ted) Porter; a brother Jack (Alberta) Mitchell; a sister Virginia Patton; a sister Ann Black; a sister Lovene (Daniel) Leavell; and grandchildren Kimberly, Derek, Josh, Jessica, Amanda.
  
  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Vivian Gosnell.
  
  The family suggests memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of
  
  Arlington Heights or the American Cancer Society. Mr. William (Bill) Seabolt.²
