Zion died at his home last Tuesday, March 29, 1898; was born in Maryland February 8, 1811, and reached the age of 87 years, 1 month, and 21 days; moved with his father to Kentucky when young, settling not far from the scene of his death; first married Miss Arena Tull, January 14, 1836; they were blessed with 2 sons and one daughter, of whom one son, James McBEE, survives; married secondly Miss Mary KUHN August 3, 1843, to which was born 2 sons and 2 daughters; one son, David McBEE and two daughters, Mrs. Susan SCROGGINS and Mrs. Della CARLTON, are living; after a home funeral, he was buried in the family burying ground; survived by his aged [second] wife and children mentioned.²
