   A memorial service for Thomas William "Tom" Scroggins, 79, of Coos Bay, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary, Fourth and Elrod Ave., Coos Bay. Cremation rites have been held.
   
   He was born June 5, 1923, in Okmulgee, Okla., the son of George and Sarah I. (Nimo) Roberts. He died Jan. 10, 2003, in Coos Bay.
   
   He was raised and educated in California and Idaho. Tom started driving trucks when he was 16 so he could help take care of his mother. On May 24, 1952, he married Pearl Downard in Reno, Nev.
   
   Tom owned and operated long haul trucks for all of his working life. He also owned TWS Transportation in Lodi, Calif., where he and Pearl made their home for 35 years. They moved to Coos Bay a year ago. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and going to auctions and garage sales. He was very resourceful and could do anything he set his mind to.
   
   He is survived by his wife, Pearl Scroggins of Coos Bay; sons, Arthur Allen Scroggins of Lodi, Thomas William Scroggins Jr. of Sacramento, Calif., and Lester Scroggins of Woodridge, Calif.; daughter, Patricia Ann and Roy Hendrick of Brookings; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Jim Scroggins of Sacramento.
   
   Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary, 267- 4216
