    A TRULY GOOD MAN – DEVOTED HUSBAND, BROTHER, FATHER, GRANDAD AND FRIEND

    Stanley Scroggins, 81, of Girard Ks died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday August 8, 2007 at Mt Carmel Hospital after a short illness.

    Stan was born November 25, 1925 in Stippville, KS, son of Laury Scroggins and Thelma Evans Scroggins. He attended school in Girard, KS.

    Stan served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was a life time member of the American Legion and the NRA.

    Stan worked for McNally's in his early years and retired from Gulf Oil in the Kansas City area in 1978.

    He married Wilma L. Fitzgerald on September 12, 1947 in Girard, KS. They lived in the Crawford County/Olathe, KS area throughout their life together.

    Survivors include his wife Wilma of the home, a daughter Janice of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, a son Larry of Lewisville, TX, a brother Charles Scroggins of Pittsburg KS, a sister Billie Kelly of West Sacramento CA, grandson David Pietarila of Lake Forest CA, grandson Steven Pietarila of Willow Spring, NC, and several nieces & nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents.

    A celebration of Stan's life will be held for close friends and family at a future date. The family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the Girard American Legion. Friend may drop off or mail memorials to Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg, KS. E-mail condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.
